Penguins are birds with hydrodynamic bodies adapted for swimming. Currently, 18 species are described, ranging from the Antarctic continent to the Galapagos Islands. The species vary greatly in size, with some reaching over 1 meter in height. The vast majority of species have black backs and heads with white chests.
